FSO members can now store and share securely in a Swedish cloud
More and more companies and associations are realizing the importance of adapting their operations to the requirements of the EU’s General Data Protection Regulation(GDPR), which comes into force on 25 May 2018. These requirements may seem like a jungle to many, but they are intended to protect, limit and give individuals control over their personal data. Now, Fria förskolor has signed a framework agreement with Storegate to make it easy and secure for its members to store files that comply with GDPR.
FSO Fria förskolor is a national trade organization for independent and non-profit preschools in Sweden. The preschools’ management and administrative functions handle both sensitive and non-sensitive personal data. This can range from children’s allergies, special diets due to religious affiliation, protected address information to something as simple as social security numbers and ordinary residential addresses.
– “We see that many people choose to send unencrypted emails to our members containing personal data and other information that should not be there. This is something we cannot stand behind and have therefore chosen to give our members an alternative to collecting and sharing information digitally in a secure way, says Mimmi von Troil, CEO, FSO Fria förskolor. “The fact that we then negotiated a good offer with Swedish support we see as a plus.
– Today, many schools and municipalities use services that do not meet the requirements of the GDPR when information is sent between them and there is great uncertainty about who and which providers in the public cloud can be trusted. The fact that Fria förskolor chooses Storegate in times like these, when the debate about Facebook and Google is most ongoing in the media, is proof of the need for a Swedish cloud service, says Torbjörn Lindkvist, Sales Manager at Storegate AB.

ABOUT FSO FREE KINDERGARTENS
FSO Fria förskolor is the national trade organization for independent non-profit preschools and educational care in Sweden. FSO is non-partisan and non-religious, and is a member-owned, member-run and member-funded organization where the members have defined the organization’s mission – “to work from a child’s perspective for all children’s equal opportunity for development regardless of the principal of the preschool”. FSO’s work protects both the children’s safety and individual security and privacy as well as the member preschools and their staff’s opportunity for a good and safe working environment. Preschools can then provide children with the tools and conditions they need for their development. They therefore welcome any initiative that aims to strengthen children’s safety and the opportunity to develop at their own pace and make the best use of learning and development. For the FSO, this mission is in line with the fundamental principles and values adopted by the International Cooperative Alliance (ICA) in 1995, which, like the mission of its members, underpin the activities of the FSO.
