GDPR-safe cloud storage

Although you may not think about it, as an administrator or board member of an association and member organization, you are certainly processing personal data.

According to the Swedish Data Protection Authority (IMY), personal data can be any kind of information that can be linked to a person in one way or another. For example, it can be anything from name, social security number, home address, mobile number, pictures and e-mail address, etc.

Storegate complies with the GDPR requirements for information to be stored in the EU (all data is located in Sweden), logging of events on the service and the establishment of a valid data processing agreement, unlike many other cloud services.

Personal data should always be protected

Many organizations handle sensitive information unknowingly and it is often stored in cloud services governed by foreign law, which is not compatible with the GDPR.

If you, as a sports club or other association, do any of the following, you are processing personal data and are obliged to comply with the GDPR. The IMY (Integrity Protection Authority) provides the following examples:

  • collects personal data from members
  • register members in any way
  • stores personal data somewhere, for example in a cloud service
  • discloses personal data to anyone

All data is stored in Sweden

At Storegate, we have chosen to have our own infrastructure for storage for our customers. We do not use third-party services such as Amazon or Google for data storage, but all information is transferred in encrypted form and stored on duplicate server environments in Swedish data centers with the highest security.

Your files are accessible only to you and you retain sole ownership of the stored information. The servers are linked to each other and the files you store with us are always copied and placed in two different server environments.

Data security is our top priority and you should always feel safe saving data in our services.

If you want to add an extra layer of security, you can enable two-factor authentication to your account. This means an additional requirement when logging in to the service where, in addition to passwords, you must also verify yourself via a standalone app.

Easy to share large and small files

It is easy to create a public distribution of a folder or file via the web. For example, you can share information with your association’s board members securely, using either password protection or BankID verification.

If you need to collect documents for your folders, this is also possible. By allowing uploading in the folder you distribute, you get a useful collection function.

Set permissions on folders
